  • 2 lbs potatoes
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel and cut the potatoes into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large pot.
  2. Add enough cold water to cover the potatoes, season with a pinch of salt, and bring to a boil.
Cooking
  1. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer the potatoes for 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
  2. Drain the potatoes thoroughly using a colander.
Mashing and Finishing
  1. Return the drained potatoes to the empty pot and add minced garlic, milk, butter, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mash with a potato masher until smooth and creamy, then taste and adjust seasoning as needed before serving hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, roast the garlic before adding it to the potatoes. You can also experiment with adding fresh herbs like chives or parsley.
