Baking the Cookies
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Making the Frosting
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and mix until the desired color is achieved.
Frosting and Serving
- Once the cookies are completely cool, spread or pipe the frosting onto each cookie.
- Allow the frosting to set before serving or storing.
Notes
For best results, make sure your butter is at room temperature. You can also vary the frosting color to match any occasion or holiday.
