Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Coating
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls (medium and large)
  • Whisk
  • Electric mixer (optional)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Plastic wrap
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Wire cooling rack

Method

Preparation
  1. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar and vegetable oil, then beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and a thick batter forms.
Chilling & Shaping
  1. Cover the dough and chill it for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, then preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
  2. Roll tablespoon-sized dough portions into balls and generously coat each in powdered sugar.
Baking
  1. Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until set at the edges but still soft in the center.
  2. Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of espresso powder to the cocoa mixture. Ensure the dough is well-chilled for easier handling and better crinkle development. Do not overbake, as these cookies are best when slightly fudgy in the center.
