Make the Mash
- Boil the chopped potatoes in salted water until tender, then drain thoroughly.
- Mash the potatoes with butter and warm milk until smooth and creamy; season to taste.
Make the Filling
- Brown the beef mince in an ovenproof dish, then drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and diced carrots to the dish, cooking until softened.
- Pour in the beef stock and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
Assemble and Bake
- Spoon the mashed potato topping over the beef filling, spreading evenly.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and bubbling.
Notes
For an extra crispy topping, you can sprinkle some grated cheese over the mash before baking. You can also add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the filling for added depth of flavor.
