Quick way to grow a Cottage Pie (Shepherd's Pie with Beef)

Ingredients
  

For the Topping
  • 1 kg Potatoes peeled and chopped into chunks
  • 50 g Butter
  • 100 ml Milk warm
For the Filling
  • 500 g Beef Mince
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 Carrots diced
  • 500 ml Beef Stock

Method
 

Make the Mash
  1. Boil the chopped potatoes in salted water until tender, then drain thoroughly.
  2. Mash the potatoes with butter and warm milk until smooth and creamy; season to taste.
Make the Filling
  1. Brown the beef mince in an ovenproof dish, then drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and diced carrots to the dish, cooking until softened.
  3. Pour in the beef stock and simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Spoon the mashed potato topping over the beef filling, spreading evenly.
  2. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and bubbling.

Notes

For an extra crispy topping, you can sprinkle some grated cheese over the mash before baking. You can also add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the filling for added depth of flavor.
