  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the onion into 1/2-inch thick rings and separate them.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Gradually add milk to the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth batter forms.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
  3. Carefully place coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove the onion rings with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serving
  1. Serve the crispy onion rings immediately.
  2. For an optional dipping sauce, mix ketchup, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you can double-dip the onion rings in batter before frying. Ensure the oil temperature is maintained for best results.
