Method
Making the Dough
- Combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil in a saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Remove the saucepan from heat, add the flour, and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until a smooth ball of dough forms.
Frying the Churros
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
- Pipe 4-inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.
- Fry churros for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy, then remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Finishing Touches
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish, then roll the warm churros in the mixture to coat evenly.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of vanilla extract to the dough. Serve churros immediately with chocolate dipping sauce or dulce de leche.
