Preparation
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the teriyaki sauce.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to form a slurry, which will be used to thicken the sauce later.
Cooking the Beef
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, then add the thinly sliced beef and stir-fry until it is browned and cooked through.
- Pour the prepared teriyaki sauce into the skillet with the beef, bring it to a simmer, and then stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce.
Assembly
- Divide the cooked rice into two serving bowls, then spoon the teriyaki beef and sauce over the rice.
- Garnish each bowl with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving your delicious Teriyaki Beef Bowl.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the beef in a small amount of teriyaki sauce for 15-30 minutes before cooking. You can also add steamed vegetables like broccoli or snap peas to make it a more complete meal.
