Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Mixing Wet Ingredients
  1. In a separate large bowl, mash the ripe bananas thoroughly with a fork.
  2. Stir in the granulated sugar, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
Combining and Baking
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  2. Fold in any optional chocolate chips or nuts.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
