Preparation
- Chop the cabbage into large wedges, slice the smoked sausage into rounds, and cut the potatoes and onion into bite-sized pieces.
Cooking
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat, then add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped onion and cook until softened, around 3-4 minutes.
- Add the potatoes, cabbage, chicken broth, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to the pot.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 40-50 minutes, or until the potatoes and cabbage are tender.
Serving
- Serve the cabbage boil hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the spices. You can also customize by adding other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers.
