Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 large Ripe avocados
  • 2 tbsp Lime juice
  • 1/4 cup Red onion finely diced
  • 2 tbsp Cilantro chopped
  • 1/2 Jalapeño minced (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
Optional additions
  • 1/2 cup Tomato diced (seeds removed)
  • 1 Garlic clove, minced

Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado flesh with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency, leaving some chunks for texture.
  3. Stir in the lime juice immediately to prevent browning.
Mixing
  1. Add the diced red onion, chopped cilantro, minced jalapeño (if using), salt, and black pepper to the mashed avocado.
  2. Mix all ingredients gently until well combined, being careful not to overmix.
  3. If desired, fold in diced tomato and minced garlic.
Serving
  1. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more salt, lime juice, or jalapeño to your preference.
  2. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or cover tightly with plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

For best results, use ripe but firm avocados. To keep guacamole fresh, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface to remove air, which prevents oxidation and browning. A sprinkle of extra lime juice on top before covering can also help preserve its vibrant green color.
