Method
Marinate the Beef
- In a medium bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef sirloin with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil.
- Toss the beef to ensure it is evenly coated with the marinade, then set it aside for at least 15 minutes.
Prepare the Stir-fry Sauce
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
- Set the stir-fry sauce aside, as it will be added towards the end of the cooking process.
Cook the Beef
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
- Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned, then remove the beef and set it aside.
Stir-fry the Vegetables
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet or wok.
- Add broccoli florets, julienned carrots, sliced bell pepper, and sliced onion, then stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
Combine and Serve
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the stir-fried vegetables.
- Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the beef and vegetables, then toss everything together until the sauce thickens and coats all ingredients.
- Serve the 5-star beef stir fry immediately with cooked rice.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the stir-fry sauce for a subtle kick. Ensure your wok or skillet is very hot before adding the beef to achieve a good sear and lock in juices.
