Preparation
- Wash and thoroughly dry the apples, then remove the stems and insert a wooden craft stick into the core of each apple.
Making the Caramel
- Unwrap the caramel candies and place them in a microwave-safe bowl with the milk, then microwave for 2-3 minutes, stirring every minute, until the caramel is smooth and melted.
Dipping the Apples
- Dip each apple into the melted caramel, rotating to ensure even coating, and allow excess caramel to drip off.
Adding Toppings (Optional)
- Immediately after dipping, roll the caramel-coated apples in your desired toppings like chopped nuts or sprinkles, or drizzle with melted chocolate.
Setting the Caramel
- Place the finished caramel apples on a sheet of parchment paper or a silicone mat, and let them cool at room temperature or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes until the caramel is set.
Notes
For best results, make sure apples are very dry before dipping. You can also add a pinch of sea salt to the caramel for a salted caramel apple twist.
