Caramel Apples

  • 3 medium apples
  • 14 ounces caramel candies
  • 2 tablespoons milk

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash and dry apples thoroughly, then remove stems and insert a craft stick or skewer into each apple.
  2. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
Making the Caramel
  1. Unwrap caramel candies and place them in a microwave-safe bowl with milk, then microwave for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth.
  2. Alternatively, melt caramels and milk in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
Dipping and Cooling
  1. Dip each apple into the melted caramel, turning to coat evenly, then scrape off excess caramel from the bottom.
  2. If desired, roll the caramel-coated apples in chopped nuts or other toppings.
  3. Place apples on the prepared baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until the caramel is set.

Notes

For best results, use firm, crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. You can also experiment with different toppings such as sprinkles, crushed cookies, or white chocolate drizzle.
