Servings: 4 waffles

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1.75 cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Whisk
  • Waffle iron

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Cooking
  1. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  2. Heat your waffle iron and lightly grease it.
  3. Pour about 0.5 to 0.75 cup of batter onto the hot waffle iron, depending on its size.
  4. Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as fresh fruit, syrup, or whipped cream.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter; a few lumps are fine and will result in a tender waffle. For extra crispy waffles, increase the amount of melted butter slightly. You can keep cooked waffles warm in a single layer on a baking sheet in a 200°F (93°C) oven while you finish cooking the rest.
