Main Ingredients
  • 2 cans Green beans (14.5 oz each, drained) or 1.5 lbs fresh/frozen
  • 1 can Cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1.33 cups French fried onions (1 can, divided)

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • 1.5-quart baking dish
  • Saucepan (if using fresh green beans)
  • Spatula

Method

Preparation
  1. If using fresh green beans, cook them in boiling water until tender-crisp; drain thoroughly. If using frozen, thaw and drain them well.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the prepared green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper, mixing until everything is well incorporated.
  3. Pour the green bean mixture into a 1.5-quart baking dish and sprinkle with two-thirds of the French fried onions.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and heated through.
  5. Remove from the oven, sprinkle the remaining French fried onions over the top, and bake for another 5 minutes or until golden brown before serving.

Notes

For an extra crispy topping, add the remaining French fried onions during the last 5-10 minutes of baking. You can also customize by adding cheese or crispy bacon bits.
