Ingredients

Dough
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Toppings
  • 0.5 cup pizza sauce
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded and your favorite toppings

Equipment

  • large bowl
  • pizza pan or baking sheet
  • oven

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water, then let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in flour, salt, and olive oil until a shaggy dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and lightly grease a pizza pan or baking sheet.
  2. Punch down the risen dough, then roll or stretch it into a 12-inch circle and transfer it to the prepared pan.
  3. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the crust, leaving a small border, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and add your desired toppings.
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Serve
  1. Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.

Notes

For an extra crispy crust, preheat a pizza stone in the oven before placing the pizza on it. Feel free to customize your toppings with your favorite vegetables, meats, and cheeses. You can also make the dough ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
