Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or melted butter)

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Whisk
  • Griddle or non-stick pan

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vegetable oil (or melted butter).
Cooking
  1. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; do not overmix, as a few lumps are okay.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or non-stick pan over medium heat; pour about 1/4 cup of batter per pancake onto the hot surface.
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through, using only three flips: one to check for doneness, a second to flip, and a third to check for the other side.

Notes

For extra fluffy pancakes, let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes before cooking. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings like syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.
