  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 0.5 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric powder
  • 0.5 tsp chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp ghee or butter
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 28-oz can canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 0.5 tsp cumin powder
  • 0.5 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi) crushed (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro chopped, for garnish

Method
 

Marinate Chicken
  1. Combine chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric, chili powder, and salt in a bowl and mix well.

Notes

For best results, marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes, or overnight in the refrigerator. Adjust spice levels to your preference. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
