Preparation
- Prepare all ingredients by toasting the bread, cooking the bacon until crispy, slicing the cooked chicken/turkey, washing and drying the lettuce, and slicing the tomatoes.
- Arrange your workspace in an assembly line fashion, ensuring all ingredients are easily accessible to facilitate efficient sandwich building.
Assembly Line Technique
- Lay out three slices of toasted bread for each sandwich; spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each bread slice.
- On the first slice, layer lettuce, tomato, and chicken or turkey, then top with the second slice of bread (mayonnaise side up).
- On the second bread slice, add more lettuce, bacon, and optional cheese or red onion, then top with the third slice of bread (mayonnaise side down).
Finishing Touches
- Secure each sandwich with four toothpicks, one in each corner, to hold the layers in place.
- Carefully slice each sandwich diagonally from corner to corner to create four triangles, then arrange them attractively on a serving platter.
- Serve immediately with potato chips and pickles on the side for a complete meal, offering a fresh and satisfying option for your crowd.
Notes
To prevent the sandwiches from getting soggy, assemble them as close to serving time as possible. If preparing in advance, keep ingredients separate and assemble just before the event. You can also lightly toast the bread to make it more resistant to moisture. For dietary restrictions, consider gluten-free bread or vegetarian alternatives for the protein.
