  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions
  1. Wash and core the tomatoes, then cut them into quarters.
  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat and add minced garlic; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the quartered tomatoes, fresh basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to the pot.
  4. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and the sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before blending to your desired consistency.
  6. Serve warm with your favorite pasta or use in other recipes.

Notes

For an even smoother sauce, you can strain it through a fine-mesh sieve after blending.
